A new look and name for Fairtrade Labelling in Australia & New Zealand

Posted by: EthicalLiving.com.au    Tags:      Posted date:  February 16, 2011  |  Comment

Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand (Fairtrade ANZ) has announced a new name and a new appearance for Fairtrade labelling in Australia. The change comes as part of the organisation’s attempt to  improve its global coordination and speak more clearly as one international movement.

The move follows the introduction by Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO) of its new abbreviated name ‘Fairtrade International’ and branding.

According to its website, the new names and appearance for both Fairtrade ANZ and FLO will allow the organisation better express what Fairtrade is all about; people first, and are a reflection of our vision to simplify the system and extend the benefits of Fairtrade to a greater number of farmers and workers, traders and consumers.

In Australia & New Zealand, the Fairtrade Certification Label will continue to assure consumers that products bearing it have met Fairtrade Standards, while the new Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand corporate mark is already being featured on a range of our communications materials, and will continue to be rolled out as part of new corporate, campaign and promotional material throughout 2011.
